My Color Therapy

Sometimes when I come home from work, I still have a burst of energy left after I finish the dishes to spend some time in the sewing room. This has been a good week for me as I had extra energy on a couple of nights.  The other night I was finally able to begin the preliminary steps on a quilt I am making for a certain beautiful woman who resides in Dublin.  She loves floral fabrics in vibrant colors!  A perfect opportunity to use Kaffe Fassett fabrics.  I love that guy. How does he sleep at night with all those colors whirling about his brain?

But the first steps to beauty are usually the mundane ones. Preparing the fabric. Ironing and trimming loose ends are the Zen moments in quilting. Not the most exciting, but it is the last time you will see a yard of fabric in its entire pattern before you start slicing into it. For those reasons I enjoy the step of turning this,

 Into this.

Next, the slicing begins.

  1. Ah, you with fabrics, and me in a yarn shop! I love to run my hands over the yarns, and drink in their colours. I usually have several projects on the go these days, just to enjoy seeing the colours unfold, twist, and join with others to create structured beauty. Too often I buy yarn just because I love it, with no project in mind. Eventually though, it tells me what it wants to be.

I can tell you now that your Dublin lady will be curling up with that quilt nightly! The colours are so happy. :-)

  2. Oh, beautiful fabrics!!!!

Thanks for your comment on my blog about the photograpy. You haven't enabled your email (through Edit my Profile) so I couldn't answer you directly. What kind of bulb in the light stands will give me true color?
